Starting out as a Freelance Journalist in the Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle sector, I soon realized that my diverse background*, interests and expertise are something that I would like to explore in various capacities.
Writing has always been my passion and while I still enjoy creating bespoke content, having lived in London for five years and being exposed to so much talent, especially in music, has amplified my love for it. Managing artists and trying to bring their vision to life is something that combines my organizational skills with music and working alongside insanely talented musicians truly “sparks joy”. In addition to that, establishing unique creative strategies for different businesses, clients and people that encompass Marketing and PR plans are a part of my professional package as well. Your typical multi-hyphen career.
And if that wasn’t enough, conversations with family and friends, but also strangers, about how complex we are as human beings and how much we all need to do to still have a habitable planet in years from now, turned into becoming an advocate for Mental Health and promoting sustainability. Since earlier this year, I have been an Advisor for iCope, which is a service that offers treatment for a range of psychological problems. Together we promote the topic Mental Health as a whole to ultimately reduce stigma and misunderstanding around it.
2019 has been an insightful year personally, which has forced me to reevaluate my own life from the ground up. As a result of that, I have made it my mission to work towards creating a better environment that promotes Mental Health, while also tackling issues like the climate crisis, inequality and injustice. Thanks to the digital revolution, it is now easier than ever to be aware of what is going on around the globe. It is important that we all realize that we are all vital members of our society (go vote!) and no matter your origin or sexual orientation, we are all humans at the end of the day and are all connected. Each one of us has their individual struggles, but if we are kind to each other, we can all get so much further together.
So let’s go and work as a big, worldwide team to make earth a better place!
* I was born in Germany and adopted right at birth and while I don’t look like my parents, I do look similar to my brother, who is adopted as well. From different parents though, so looking alike doesn’t make any sense. London was added to the equation, when my great aunt dated a wonderful man well before my time and his side of the family became part of ours too. After my Mom spent her teenage years in this bustling metropole, I too started visiting on my summer breaks and finally moved here in 2015 . And if two homes weren’t enough, California dreaming turned into California living, when I became a foreign exchange student in 2008. The family I lived with, while attending High School, became real family by sharing more than just views and ideas, but by sharing experiences. My “American sister” is adopted as well and only a day younger than me, sharing my brother’s birthday, who is 5 years younger though. A bit chaotic, but I wouldn’t have it any other way and all of this has truly shown that family doesn’t always mean blood, but how you care about one another.
Oh and I reeeally like dogs. Specifically my beloved labradors Nando (left) and Aris (right).
